The Light

Have you ever had a moment where you wish that you could take pictures with your eyes?

This morning I looked at the weather on my phone to find that a large amount of North Texas was covered in fog.  I start work at 7 so I leave around 6:30. (Meaning it's dark still) When I walked outside I found that it was extremely dense.  I got in my truck and as I started driving.  I quickly found that I couldn't even see a red or green light, or cars going the other direction, till I was about 30 yards away.  It became rather scary.  After I reached the highway (which was better lit) I was able to see better. But it was amazing how slow people were driving.  I've never been in Texas and seen the left lane almost completely empty.

When I exited off of I-35 I went on the overpass that goes way over all the other roads.  The fog here was even worse.  I could only see a few cars ahead of me.  But as we came over the top I got to look down and see something really cool.  The lights of the cars below me were hard to see but the patterns they made were amazingly cool looking.  You couldn't see the car they were connected to at all.    It's hard to describe but the lights looked like white stars moving along the ground.

It reminded me of the message at church yesterday.  We started out with the lights off.  We talked about darkness.  Some people are comfortable with the dark, they feel that they can see just fine.  But can they really?  No.  But then when you see a light, you realize what you've been missing.

Some people walk through our world like that.  Unaware of the light that exists.  But how cool is it when they see a light.  That thing of beauty. That thing that brings clarity.  That shows them the way to the greatest light.  That's our mission.  To be a light.  To bring some clarity to their lives, to show them what they have been missing.  I now have this image in my head and I can see these lights that are surrounded by darkness.  Thats us!  But those little lights made a huge difference.  I don't know about you, but I want to be one of those lights.
